About the Open House
When you walk into the open house, you will be greeted by trained family history specialists who will be delighted to welcome you and introduce you to the different resources available, all free. Your experience will be self-directed -- you choose what to explore.
There will be five specialized stations set up with a specialist at each to teach you how to use specific resources. The stations are:
- Intro to FamilySearch.org
- How to Create and Customize Fan Charts
- Using the 1950s census
- Using the Photo Scanner (a quick way to digitize your box of old photos)
- Using the Photo Negative Scanner
You can come to the open house to work on your family tree. In fact, if you want to bring a name, birthdate, and place of residence of a deceased relative, we can help you work on finding them during the open house!
This event is different than our regular operating hours because there will be many more specialists available to help you and introduce you to new resources. This event is more introduction based, whether you are new to family history or just new to the area.
